The town of Ferguson, Missouri is gradually piecing together
remnants of the community damaged during the Michael Brown protest. Brown’s passing sparked civil unrest
throughout the area, leading to widespread property damage of neighborhoods,
especially among several small businesses decimated by acts of vandalism and
looting by a few people.
The Missouri Government in conjunction with local business and community leaders has pledged to contribute $250,000 in small business
lending resources, for small businesses impacted by the Brown protest, to the
State Small Business Loan Program.
The donation from these entities and additional resources
furnished by public and private sector organizations, gives impacted local businesses
up to $1 million of support to rebuild under the loan program.
With emotions still raw from Michael Brown’s passing, the people
of Ferguson, small businesses, and the local government are working together to
repair a fractured community. This loan
program is just one small step of many to assist in the town’s recovery.
